Turning 37

I turned 37 and celebrated this special occasion at Oborozuki, a French-Japanese fine dining restaurant in Circular Quay. Every dish was memorable, but it was the Southern Calamari dish that impressed me the most. Despite its deceptively simple name, it’s a magical combination of snow pea, lardons, cauliflower, persillade, calamari dashi, and agretti.

Southern Calamari

When my birthday rolls around once every year, oftentimes faster than I want it to, I use this time to reflect on my current self and how I wish to approach life moving forward:

Growing older in a fast-paced world that’s getting more and more unpredictable, I find it increasingly important to slow down in order not to burn out.

I’ve been feeling less inclined to use social media in favour of more meaningful channels of communication. In the past year I’ve deleted my Facebook account and now selectively use Instagram. I’ve freed up time to grow this website to mindfully document and curate my life.

I’ve been questioning all the “shoulds” and “musts” that are handed to me in life, such as thoughts about marriage, the meaning of work, and what success means to me.
