Hi, I’m May. In my free time you’ll find me absorbed in a book, working on this site, or out and about with my camera. I have a thing for Studio Ghibli films, pocket notebooks, and Assam tea.
For the longest of time, I’ve always wanted an online space of my own where I can freely express myself without worrying too much about what others thought of me. This didn’t happen for many years until now.
What motivated me to begin was my inspiration: BTS. I find them inspirational as their music and artistry not only speaks to my wandering soul, but their core message of loving and speaking yourself continues to empower many others like myself to find my inner voice.
Drawing on this courage and strength, I created this personal website as a way of getting to know myself better through writing.
Currently
Reading fiction: I enjoy visiting the library in my free time to borrow books, mainly fiction rather than non-fiction. I just finished The Door by Magda Szabo and currently reading I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman.
Vintage and antique shopping: I’ve discovered a newfound interest in vintage and antique items after binge watching almost every single video on Rajiv Surendra’s channel on YouTube – one of the joys of life is to wait for a new video drop. Over the past 2-3 months, I’ve been to flea markets and shopped at various vintage & antique stores around Sydney.
Exploring teas: Summer is here, and I’ve been dabbling in different types of teas and herbal tisanes that help cool me down when the sweltering weather hits. For my morning routine, I enjoy whisking matcha the traditional way and having it straight instead of with milk. During the day, I like to sip on herbal tisanes mainly aged mandarin peel (chen pi), chrysanthemum flowers buds, and honeysuckle flowers.
